1585 new positive new cases of the COVID-19 virus were confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday January 9, 2021.
The total number of cases recorded in the country stands at 99,063 as the 100,000 cases benchmark looks very close.
Lagos, Federal Capital Territory and Plateau had the highest number of positive cases for the day in the country with 573 and 182 and 162 positive cases respectively.

NCDC made this known during a daily report on Covid-19 in the country, they gave the breakdown of positive cases on their social media pages.
659 discharges were made for the day. ‘Our discharges today include 419 community recoveries in Lagos State, 123 community recoveries in Gombe State and 117 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.‘, NCDC said.
8 deaths due to COVID-19 were recorded in the country for the day.
