1565 new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday 7 January, 2021.
Lagos State on had 807 new positive cases of COVID-19, breaking its former record and setting a new one.
Lagos State broke the COVID-19 record in single day infections it set on January 5, 2021, when it reported 712 cases.
Lagos had more than half of the entire new cases confirmed on Thursday, with FCT coming a distant second with 236 cases.
New cases were reported in 24 States and the Federal Capital Territory.

A total of 556 discharges were reported by NCDC.
‘Our discharges today include 314 community recoveries in Lagos State, 158 in Kaduna State and 84 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines‘, NCDC said.
Adding the recent infections, total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria stood at 95,934 with 77,982 survivors discharged so far and 1,330 deaths.
