Lampard led Chelsea to a fourth-placed Premier League finish and the FA Cup final in his first season in charge.

However, he failed to match much greater expectations this season after the club spent a reported £220 million ($300 million) on new players in the summer transfer window.
A run of five defeats in their last eight Premier League matches has seen Chelsea slip to ninth, 11 points behind leaders Manchester United.

Gernot Rohr Ask Clubless Ahmed Musa Sort Out Career Before Nigeria’s AFCON Qualifiers

Nigerian Coach, Gernot Rohr has said that he’ll like to see Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa start playing for a new club after more than three months of being without a club.
Rohr, the Super Eagles coach says he wants Ahmed Musa to be back ahead of their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March.
Nigeria will face the Republic of Benin and Lesotho in their last Afcon qualifying games next month.
Musa has been clubless since October when he left Saudi Arabian side, Al Nass, by mutual agreement and has had failed talks with West Brom of England.
Rohr says he is hopeful Musa will sort out his career soon.
“We are in touch with our captain, he is in the United Kingdom now,” Rohr told media.
“It’s not so easy to change during the season but he is free to sign where he wants and there’s no obligation to respect the transfer window for him because he was free already.”I am very hopeful that he can sign in the next few days, he wanted to come back to Europe and to play in England so it’s not easy during the season but I’m hopeful that he can sign in the club, it’s very important that everybody is playing in their clubs.
“It’s a long time that he didn’t play, I think since October, so he needs now to come back in the rhythm of the matches.” “I hope to see the fans very soon in the stadium, it’s difficult for the fans, we have the pandemic situation for almost one year,” he added.
“I want to tell them that our boys will fight to forget some disappointment from last year.”
Nigeria is currently leading Group L table of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with eight points.

Ajax Goalkeeper, Andre Onana Slapped With 12 Months Suspension After Failing Doping Test

Ajax and Cameroon goalkeeper, Andre Onana, 24, has been suspended for 12 months by UEFA after he failed a doping test last October.
The suspension, which is effective as of February 5 will apply to all football activities at both national and international level.
The substance furosemide was discovered in the Cameroon international’s urine in an out of competition test on 31 October last year, but Ajax claim Onana took it “unwittingly” after feeling unwell.
“On the morning of 30 October Onana did not feel well. He wanted to take a tablet. Unwittingly, however, he took Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed,” an Ajax statement said.
Ajax said they would appeal the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The club added: “Onana made a mistake with the product and mistakenly took his wife’s medicine, which ultimately led to UEFA’s action against the goalkeeper. The football association’s disciplinary body ruled that he did not intend to cheat. However, the European Football Association believes that, according to the prevailing anti-doping rules, an athlete has a duty at all times to ensure that no prohibited substances enter the body.”
Onana and Ajax will appeal the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Ajax’s managing director Edwin van der Sar said: “We explicitly renounce performance-enhancing drugs; we stand for a clean sport. This is a terrible setback, for Andre himself but certainly also for us as a club.
“Andre is a top goalkeeper who has proven his worth for Ajax for many years and is very popular with the fans. We had hoped for a conditional suspension or a much shorter one than this twelve months, because it was demonstrably not meant to strengthen his body and thus improve his performance.”
