After seeing a drop in COVID-19 cases for two days, Nigeria recorded high amount of new COVID-19 cases according to the daily COVID-19 report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for Tuesday February 02, 2021.
According to the report by NCDC, Nigeria recorded 1,634 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, this represents a sharp increase from the 676 cases reported on Monday, but there is a decrease in deaths from 21 on Monday to six on Tuesday.
In the report, Lagos had the highest amount of new cases for the day with 440 new cases, an increase from the 227 cases it recorded on Monday.
Anambra was second as the state recorded its highest cases in a day since the pandemic broke out in February 2020. 160 new cases were recorded in the state, a high spike as the state recorded no case on Monday.
The Federal Capital Territory, FCT was third with 158 cases, a rise from the 50 cases it reported the previous day.
Rivers raked in 134 cases, up from the 73 cases it accounted for on Monday while Abia, with 103 cases recorded its highest cases since the pandemic broke out.
As at the time of this report Nigeria COVID-19 figures stand at 133,552 confirmed cases, 107,551 discharged patients and 1613 deaths so far.
